William S. Burroughs sends his regards
William S. Burroughs William S. Burroughs

Toronto, 1989
William S. Burroughs appeared in my dream, so I wrote to him. I mentioned the dream, and raved about his work. I also wondered if I might use a sentence from one of his books. Burroughs responded with this World Wildlife Fund card, postmarked Kansas City, Missouri. Look, the big wrinkled elephant is reaching out to the cute baby elephant. Is that not an unexpectedly tender gesture?
